Lion Air Ready to Serve 15 Hajj Return Flight Groups for the 1446H/2025 Repatriation Phase via Padang Debarkation Poin
PADANG, June 10, 2025 — Lion Air affirms its operational readiness to support the repatriation phase (return flights) of Hajj pilgrims for the 1446 Hijri / 2025 season from Saudi Arabia to the Padang debarkation point, via Minangkabau International Airport (BIM), West Sumatra. Through this return phase, Lion Air supports the strategic components of national aviation in contributing to the overall success of the Hajj operation — from departure to return. Lion Air will operate 15 return flights: 7 from Jeddah (JED) between June 12 and June 23, 2025, and 8 from Madinah (MED) between June 26 and July 8, 2025 (see attached schedule).
As part of the national private airline sector involved in Hajj operations, Lion Air demonstrates consistency in providing the best service to Indonesian pilgrims by prioritizing safety, comfort, punctuality, and adherence to inclusive service values.
To ensure the smooth repatriation of pilgrims to the Padang debarkation point, Lion Air has prepared one aircraft each in Jeddah and Madinah, as well as two in Padang. Under this operational plan, one aircraft will be used to directly transport pilgrims from Padang to Saudi Arabia, while the other will be on standby as a backup to ensure smooth operations from Saudi Arabia to Padang. The aircraft used are wide-body types: Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A330-900NEO.
From a service perspective, providing additional aircraft is a tangible form of Lion Air’s commitment to prioritizing the needs, comfort, and peace of mind of Hajj pilgrims, ensuring reliable and ready-to-use flight availability whenever required.
All aircraft used have undergone maintenance, inspection, and regular checks according to schedule and international aviation safety standards. These procedures are carried out by Batam Aero Technic, an MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) company and a certified member of the Lion Group.
All repatriation services provided by Lion Air are aligned with the 2025 Hajj theme from the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia: “Elderly- and Disability-Friendly Hajj”, which includes the implementation of service standards such as:
- Priority assistance for elderly pilgrims and those with disabilities
- Wheelchairs and dedicated access routes within airport areas
- Training for cabin crew and ground staff to understand special needs and provide empathetic service
- Seating and baggage arrangements that support comfort and ease of mobility for pilgrims
Lion Air expresses its gratitude and appreciation for the trust given by the government, Hajj pilgrims, and the Indonesian public, as well as the ongoing support from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Transportation, Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney), AirNav Indonesia, Hajj Mission Officers in Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, and all other stakeholders.
Lion Air hopes all pilgrims have a meaningful spiritual experience and a safe, comfortable, and memorable return journey home.
