Lion Air Charter Flight: Joint Effort with the Indonesian Government for the Repatriation of Indonesian Citizens from Myanmar

TANGERANG, March 18, 2025 – Lion Air supports the humanitarian mission by operating charter flights to facilitate the return of 554 Indonesian citizens (WNI) from Myanmar. This initiative is the result of collaboration between the Indonesian Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and various relevant state institutions coordinated by the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, as well as cooperation with authorities from Thailand and Myanmar. The execution of this flight operation reflects strong coordination and the strengthening of bilateral relations between the three countries in addressing humanitarian issues and protecting Indonesian citizens abroad.

The Indonesian Government continues its efforts to protect and repatriate Indonesian citizens from abroad through various strategic measures. In carrying out this repatriation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has partnered with Lion Air to ensure a safe and smooth repatriation process. The details of the charter flights include two Lion Air flights on Tuesday, March 18, 2025:

  • Lion Air JT-3521: Route from Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok (DMK) – Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), scheduled to arrive at 09:00 WIB.
  • Lion Air JT-3523: Route from Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok (DMK) – Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), scheduled to arrive at 12:00 WIB.

 

One flight on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, is Lion Air JT-3521, operating on the route from Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkok (DMK) – Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), scheduled to arrive at 07:45 WIB.

Lion Air expresses its appreciation for the trust given by the Indonesian Government in supporting the smooth repatriation of Indonesian citizens. In this process, the aviation sector plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe, swift, and well-regulated return. The operation of these charter flights is part of a synergistic effort between the government and private sector (airlines) in maintaining stability and public welfare.

All these flights are operated using Boeing 737-900ER aircraft, which have a capacity of 215 economy-class seats. This aircraft was chosen because it: Can fly non-stop from Bangkok to Jakarta, ensuring efficient travel time. Equipped with an ergonomic cabin, providing greater comfort for passengers. Supported by advanced technology to enhance flight safety and security aspects.

As part of international flight operational standards, Lion Air implements strict procedures covering safety, security, and comfort aspects, including: Pre-flight aircraft inspections to ensure airworthiness and confirm that the aircraft is safe to operate. Coordination with airport authorities, immigration, and relevant agencies to ensure a smooth travel experience for passengers. Professional in-flight service from the cabin crew, ensuring a comfortable and safe flight experience.
