Supporting the Smooth Running of UMKM

The policy of adjusting the total free baggage allowance to 15kg can have an impact on the movement of MSME commodities and products to and from eastern Indonesia, including

First, stimulate the delivery of UMKM commodities and products appropriately. This can help the priority of shipping cargo of UMKM products larger and more affordable for consumers.

Second, boosting commodities and products of eastern Indonesian UMKM by utilizing available cargo capacity more effectively.

Third, increasing the competitiveness of UMKM products is increasingly competitive, due to faster transportation and delivery with greater capacity.

Fourth, improving the quality of transportation services by ensuring that the weight of commodity cargoes and UMKM products transported is in accordance with aircraft capacity. The goal is to help reduce the risk of delivery delays caused by overloads on the aircraft.

The Maluku and Papua regions have rich and diverse natural resource potential, including superior commodities and UMKM products that can be developed. Some of the leading commodities and products of UMKM in Papua include agriculture: sago, coconut, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and beans such as red beans and green beans. Fisheries: tuna, snapper, lobster, shrimp, crab and shellfish. Handicrafts: wood and stone carvings, woven mats and hats, as well as traditional weapons. Food and beverage products: mung bean porridge, bread, fish pepes and various types of Papuan specialties.

Travel more conveniently

The policy of adjusting the total free baggage allowance to 15kg can basically provide benefits for passengers by making air travel more practical and easy, among others:

First, it is easier for passengers to prepare baggage following baggage weight restrictions in accordance with airline regulations. This helps avoid additional fees that may apply if baggage exceeds the permitted weight limit.

Second, reducing the risk of loss or damage to luggage, passengers can easily supervise luggage during the flight and reduce the potential risk of loss or damage to luggage.

Third, reduce the time needed during the check-in process. Lower baggage weight restrictions, passengers contribute to completing the check-in process faster.

Fourth, reduce the time needed for baggage collection and carrying it after arriving at the destination airport.

Fifth, passengers will be more likely to carry only items that are absolutely necessary, so as to increase efficiency in the baggage arrangement process.

Lion Air said that it is still important for passengers to check Lion Air's provisions before traveling and prepare well so as not to be exposed to additional fees and avoid inconvenience during the trip.

In an effort to provide a sense of comfort to prepare air travel plans early, Lion Air urges, for prospective passengers who book domestic flight tickets from 01 April 2023 and after and want to increase the baggage quota, they can still buy pre-paid baggage (pre-paid baggage) a maximum of 30kg when booking tickets. Prospective passengers who have not made a baggage quota reservation and want to increase their baggage quota can purchase at the check-in counter or customer service center at the airport.
