Eastern Indonesia Now Has a Direct Umrah Route to Jeddah, No More Transit! Lion Air Launches Non-Stop Flights from Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport

M A K A S S A R, July 17, 2025 – Starting today (17/07), Umrah pilgrims from eastern Indonesia no longer need to transit in other cities. Lion Air has launched direct flights from Makassar to Jeddah, aiming to shorten travel time and prioritize comfort for religious journeys. This route is part of Lion Air's commitment to:

  • Simplify access for pilgrims in eastern Indonesia
  • Provide safe, comfortable, and affordable Umrah services
  • Contribute to connectivity and the growth of the religious economy in the region

With six flights per week, this service establishes Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Makassar, as a new main gateway to Saudi Arabia.

  • July 17 / JT-092 / 13-day program / 09:40 WITA – 16:30 local time
  • July 19 / JT-094 / 12-day program / 14:55 WITA – 21:45 local time
  • July 20 / JT-092 / 12-day program / 09:40 WITA – 16:30 local time
  • July 21 / JT-092 / 12-day program / 09:40 WITA – 16:30 local time
  • July 22 / JT-095 / 13-day program / 15:15 WITA – 22:05 local time
  • July 23 / JT-092 / 13-day program / 09:40 WITA – 16:30 local time

The inaugural flight was officiated by the Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman; Minggus E. T. Gandeguai, General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia Makassar Branch; Capt. Rachmat Diansyah Putra, Director of Production at Lion Air, along with members of Forkopimda, regulators, airport service providers, and Umrah travel partners such as Mafada Tour, M2 Wisata, and over 70 other official travel agencies from eastern Indonesia.
