MUMBAI, June 1, 2025 — Lion Air is officially a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) – a global organization representing over 330 airlines from 120 countries, accounting for more than 80% of the world’s air traffic. The announcement was made during the prestigious IATA 81st Annual General Meeting (AGM) and World Air Transport Summit (WATS), held from June 1–3, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam – Convention Centre, New Delhi, India.
By joining IATA, Lion Air becomes part of a global community of airlines committed to safety, service, efficiency, and sustainability. IATA membership is open to both scheduled and non-scheduled airlines, with a key requirement being the IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certification – a world-class standard for airline operational safety.
Lion Air has consistently and regularly undergone and passed IOSA audits, demonstrating its commitment to safe, standardized, and reliable operations. The audit covers more than 900 aspects of operations, including flight procedures, crew training, aircraft maintenance, and safety management systems.
This milestone confirms that Lion Air not only complies with national regulations but also aligns with international best practices—reinforcing IATA’s confidence in accepting Lion Air as a full member.
