T A N G E R A N G – 12 August 2020. Lion Air (Flight code JT) member of Lion Air Group provides information on upgrading the sterilization and hygiene procedures of Jet air aircraft operated by Boeing 737-800NG, Boeing 737-900ER, Airbus 330-300 and Airbus 330-900NEO.

Lion Air's commitment to ensure the health and safety of passengers, crew members, technicians, ground handling personnel and other related employees, in the implementation of aviation operations that meet the elements as an effort does not cause the spread of viruses including Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Built-in technology devices and preventative measures, all crew members and employees and passengers comply with Lion Air flight conditions, as guidelines for health protocols during this vigilant period, would give optimistic that air travel slowly began to return. With the expectation, passengers can start the journey without hesitation (resume their journeys with confidence).

The actions of Lion Air based on the recommendation of aircraft manufacturers implemented according to the continuously enhanced safety and security approaches and updated in the aviation industry, one of the systems that has been proven in helping to maintain the level of cabin cleanliness, which relies on the ability of High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter or strong particle filtering.

HEPA working system is filtering and re-circulation from the cab and to deliver it with clean air from outside the plane. Some of the air originating from the inside is discarded out of the cab, the rest is pumped through an air filter – HEPA.

HEPA filter works effectively with a level of 99.9 +% eliminating particles such as viruses, bacteria and fungi before the air is re-distributed (circulation) to the cab. The air circulation rotation in the HEPA-equipped aircraft takes place rapidly. Thus, fresh air circulation in the CAB is updated 20 to 30 times in an hour or every two to three minutes, so that passengers will feel safe, comfortable and confident to travel by plane.

Another technology that makes air quality in the cab safe is the composite material in the aircraft cabin that allows preserving moisture thereby reducing the effects of dehydration, dry and non-rust conditions such as those in metals under high humidity. Aircraft CAB is designed to retain moisture by approximately 25%, increased compared to previous series of 20%.

The improvement of the aircraft cleaning activities of Lion Air Group periodically with the Aircraft Exterior and Interior Cleaning (AEIC) method is run at the maintenance center of Batam Aero Technic (BAT) and in various base stations where the Lion Air aircraft is located.

Cleaning works include Flight deck; Galley; lavatories, including doors, door handles, sinks and trash cans; feeding Mat and grip; In-flight entertainment including remote control; luggage storage bin handle; Overhead lighting, air vents and call buttons; Seat backup; Seat covers; Seat belts; Seat headrests; Carpet floor; windows and window coverings; Other passenger facilities; Cargo compartment and other.
