Medan Kualanamu Becomes a Practical Starting Point for Umrah, Lion Air Launches Non-Stop Flights to Jeddah

Jul 15, 2025, 12:21 PM by Lion Air Public Relations

M E D A N, July 13, 2025 — Good news for the people of North Sumatra and surrounding regions: Lion Air has officially launched direct Umrah flights from Medan to Jeddah. The service began operating on July 13, 2025, and will run regularly according to the departure schedules arranged by Lion Air’s trusted Umrah travel partners.

This initiative is part of Lion Air’s commitment to bringing Umrah access closer, by offering a more practical, efficient, and comfortable travel option directly from Kualanamu International Airport (KNO) to King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The opening of this route offers many benefits: pilgrims no longer need to travel to other cities to begin their spiritual journey, making Kualanamu a primary international Umrah hub for western Indonesia.

Umrah pilgrims are flown using Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A330-900NEO aircraft—wide-body fleets with a capacity of up to 436 economy class seats. Features such as spacious cabins, ergonomic seating, and onboard entertainment enhance comfort for long-haul travel.

Initial Umrah Departure Schedule from Medan:

  • July 13, 2025 (12-day program) – Flight JT-084, departs at 12:40 PM WIB, arrives at 5:30 PM local time
  • July 15, 2025 (13-day program) – Flight JT-086, departs at 12:40 PM WIB, arrives at 5:30 PM local time
  • July 17, 2025 (13-day program) – Flight JT-084, departs at 3:40 PM WIB, arrives at 8:30 PM local time

Included with each booking:

  • 30 kg free checked baggage
  • 7 kg cabin baggage
  • 5 liters of Zamzam water (provided upon return)

To ensure a smooth and safe pilgrimage, Lion Air reminds all pilgrims to observe the following guidelines:

  • Keep passports, money, and important documents in your cabin bag
  • Power banks (100–160 Wh) are allowed only in carry-on and must not be used during the flight
  • Do not carry liquids over 100 ml, sharp objects, or flammable items in your cabin bag
  • Attach name and contact information labels on all luggage

Through this service, Lion Air aims to continue supporting Indonesian Muslims in performing Umrah more easily, quickly, and comfortably.
