media statementUpdated 17 October 2026 | 20:00 Central Indonesia Time (WITA) Haze and Wind Speeds Affect Batik Air Flights in Palu (PLW)
P A L U, 17 October 2026. Batik Air announces that two flights to and from Mutiara SIS Al-Jufri Airport, Palu, Central Sulawesi, on Saturday, 17 October 2026, have been cancelled due to haze and wind conditions affecting flight operational safety.
Haze can reduce pilots’ visibility of the runway and the surrounding airport environment. Meanwhile, wind speeds that do not meet operational requirements can affect aircraft takeoff and landing procedures. When these weather conditions do not meet the required safety limits, flights cannot be operated.
The affected Batik Air flights are:
- ID6554, Makassar (UPG) – Palu (PLW), scheduled to depart at 13:15 local time.
- ID6555, Palu (PLW) – Makassar (UPG), scheduled to depart at 15:10 local time.
Batik Air prioritizes the safety of passengers and crew members in every operational decision. Based on weather conditions and flight safety considerations, both flights are scheduled to resume operations on Sunday, 18 October 2026.
Batik Air has informed affected passengers of these operational adjustments. Passengers wishing to rearrange their travel plans may choose a refund or flight rescheduling, subject to applicable terms and conditions. Further information and assistance are available through Batik Air customer service representatives at the airport.
Batik Air understands that these schedule changes may affect passengers’ travel plans and appreciates their understanding. The airline continues to monitor weather developments and coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure that flights can safely resume operations.
