S E N T A N I, 10 October 2026. Lion Air and Wings Air announce that several flights to and from Sentani Airport, Jayapura (DJJ), on 9 October 2026 were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions involving smoke that reduced visibility around the airport.

Smoke along the approach path and within the airport’s operational areas can reduce pilots’ visibility of the runway and surrounding objects. Visibility is a key factor in determining whether flights can operate, as every flight must meet the minimum visibility requirements under applicable safety standards.

As of 10 October 2026, flight operations remain subject to weather conditions meeting aviation safety requirements. Lion Air and Wings Air continue to coordinate with relevant parties and monitor conditions on the ground to determine the next operational steps.

These flight cancellations and delays constitute force majeure, referring to circumstances beyond the airlines’ control that affect flight operations. These decisions were made with the safety of passengers, crew members, and everyone involved in flight operations as the top priority. Flights cannot proceed when weather conditions do not meet safety requirements.

Lion Air and Wings Air have informed affected passengers of the situation and provided the following options: a refundof the ticket fare in accordance with applicable terms and conditions, or rescheduling to another available flight, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
