Lion Group Reinforces Aviation Safety Messages During National Transportation Day 2026 Through a Safety Campaign and Flash Mob
T A N G E R A N G, 17 September 2026 — National Transportation Day (Hari Perhubungan Nasional or Harhubnas) 2026 provides an opportunity for Lion Group to once again emphasize the importance of safety as an integral part of every journey. This message was conveyed through a Safety Campaign held at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, involving pilots, cabin crew, Lion Group personnel, Angkasa Pura Indonesia, regulators, and other stakeholders in the air transportation sector.
The involvement of these various parties reflects the fact that aviation safety is a shared responsibility requiring collaboration among airlines, airport operators, regulators, and everyone involved in the aviation ecosystem. Through this initiative, safety messages are expected to become more relatable to the public and foster greater awareness that everyone has a role in ensuring safe, orderly, and comfortable air travel.
This message is increasingly relevant because transportation services operate amid conditions that may change at any time. Recently, the transportation sector has faced various situations—including volcanic activity, volcanic ash, weather conditions, and other events—that may affect public mobility. Through the Safety Campaign, Lion Group seeks to emphasize that aviation safety is not solely the responsibility of pilots, cabin crew, airport personnel, or airline operators.
Passengers Also Play an Important Role
Simple actions—such as paying attention to safety instructions, carrying items in accordance with applicable regulations, refraining from making jokes about bombs or security threats, avoiding contact with suspicious objects, and immediately reporting anything potentially hazardous to the appropriate personnel—are all part of a strong safety culture.
The campaign also raises awareness of Foreign Object Debris (FOD), which refers to foreign objects that may endanger the safety of flight operations. It also promotes an understanding that events such as earthquakes and volcanic ash can affect airport and flight operations.
For passengers, this knowledge provides a simple yet important benefit: understanding what to do, what to avoid, and whom to notify when encountering an unusual situation.
The safety education delivered through the campaign covers practical matters relevant to passengers’ daily travel experience. These include refraining from making jokes about bombs or security threats, complying with carry-on baggage regulations, paying attention to the safety briefing, wearing seat belts as instructed, following cabin crew instructions, and promptly reporting suspicious items or conditions to the appropriate personnel, among other measures.
These messages are expected to extend beyond pre-flight information and become shared habits. Aviation safety is not only about procedures and technology; it also depends on the awareness and vigilance of everyone within the aviation environment.
Flash Mob as a Means of Communicating Safety Messages
During the event, the Safety Campaign messages were presented through a flash mob involving Lion Group personnel at the airport. The flash mob was not intended to turn the safety campaign into mere entertainment. Rather, it served as a communication approach designed to attract public attention and make the messages easier to remember. Through a more visual and interactive approach, the messages could be delivered in a more engaging manner without diminishing the importance of the safety principles being conveyed.
Education remained the central focus of the event, while the flash mob served as a medium for building engagement and fostering a sense of togetherness among transportation personnel and passengers.
This approach also aligns with the spirit of Harhubnas 2026, which places safety and public service at the heart of the responsibilities entrusted to transportation personnel.
