Lion Air Launches Direct International Flights from Lombok to Kuala Lumpur, Expanding Global Connectivity for West Nusa Tenggara
L O M B O K, July 1, 2026 — Traveling from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) to destinations around the world has become easier than ever. Lion Air officially launched its direct international service between Lombok (LOP) and Kuala Lumpur (KUL) on July 1, 2026, offering travelers a more convenient and seamless journey. For Umrah pilgrims, the new route also provides a comfortable travel option via Kuala Lumpur with onward connections to Jeddah, making the journey to the Holy Land even more accessible.
For the tourism sector, this new service creates greater opportunities for international visitors to choose Lombok as one of Indonesia's premier travel destinations. World-renowned attractions such as Mandalika, the Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air), Mount Rinjani, UNESCO Global Geopark sites, tourism villages, and the rich cultural heritage of the Sasak people are now more easily accessible to travelers from around the world.
At the same time, residents of West Nusa Tenggara now enjoy broader access to international travel. Students pursuing education abroad, business professionals expanding their global networks, professionals with international mobility, and families visiting relatives overseas can all benefit from a more efficient travel option.
The Lombok – Kuala Lumpur route operates daily (seven flights per week) starting July 1, 2026.

For Umrah and Middle East travel, passengers can conveniently connect to Jeddah, Dubai, and Tashkent.
Students, business travelers, and tourists also have access to major cities including Tokyo and Osaka in Japan, Taipei in Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The extensive network further connects to key economic centers across China, including Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kunming, Chengdu, Xiamen, Changsha, Zhengzhou, and Haikou.
Travel throughout South Asia is also more convenient, with connections to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Karachi, Colombo, and Malé. Travelers exploring Southeast Asia can continue to Hanoi, Da Nang, Phuket, and Dili, while passengers heading to Australia can connect to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.
Within Malaysia, the network also serves Johor Bahru, Kota Bharu, Tawau, Miri, Sibu, and Bintulu. In addition, passengers can connect to several Indonesian cities, including Medan, Padang, Pekanbaru, and Batam.
