Jul 1, 2026, 09:12 AM by Lion Air Public Relations

BATAM, 25 June 2026 – That morning, the atmosphere at Hang Nadim International Airport, Batam, was filled with anticipation. Amid neatly arranged luggage and families offering their heartfelt prayers, Umrah pilgrims prepared to begin a journey they had long awaited. Some arrived from Batam, while others had traveled from Tanjungpinang, Karimun, Dumai, Pekanbaru, and Pangkalpinang. Despite coming from different regions, they all shared the same destination—to perform their pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

That journey has now become even more convenient. Lion Air has resumed its 1448 Hijri / 2026 Umrah services through a non-stop route between Batam (BTH) and Jeddah (JED) using the wide-body Airbus A330, offering up to 436 Economy Class seats. In addition to serving pilgrims from Batam, the service also accommodates travelers from across the Riau Islands Province, including Tanjungpinang, Bintan, Karimun, Natuna, Anambas, Lingga, and surrounding areas.

The direct service also provides an attractive option for pilgrims from Riau Province, including Pekanbaru, Dumai, Bengkalis, Siak, Rokan Hulu, Rokan Hilir, Indragiri Hulu, Indragiri Hilir, Pelalawan, Kampar, and many other regions with convenient transportation links to Batam.

Pilgrims from the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, including Pangkalpinang, Bangka, West Bangka, Central Bangka, South Bangka, Belitung, and East Belitung, also benefit from this service, as Batam is now an easily accessible departure gateway to Saudi Arabia.

Beyond serving travelers from the Riau Islands, Riau, and Bangka Belitung, the service also accommodates pilgrims from Jambi Province. Through the available connectivity to Hang Nadim International Airport, prospective pilgrims from Jambi City, Kerinci, Sungai Penuh, Bungo, Merangin, Sarolangun, Tebo, Batanghari, Muaro Jambi, West Tanjung Jabung, and East Tanjung Jabung can begin their journey to the Holy Land more conveniently.

Another key advantage is the strategic location of Hang Nadim International Airport, which is connected to numerous destinations across Indonesia through Lion Air's domestic network. This enables prospective pilgrims to travel to Batam with ease before continuing directly to Jeddah in a more seamless and efficient journey.

For pilgrims, the benefits of a direct flight extend beyond saving time. A simpler travel experience helps reduce fatigue before beginning the series of religious activities in the Holy Land. With fewer transfers and a shorter overall journey, pilgrims can focus more on preparing themselves physically and spiritually for their worship.

Lion Air operates this service using the Airbus A330, specifically designed for long-haul travel. Its spacious cabin, high passenger capacity, and the support of professional cabin crew reflect Lion Air's commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable journey for every pilgrim.

Lion Air extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude for the support, collaboration, and trust of its Umrah travel partners, including Alfaruq Travel Batam, Haafa Tour & Travel Jambi, Megawisata Travel Palembang, Bina Insani Travel Jambi, Ajwa Travel Jambi, CS Asia Travel Pontianak, Samira Travel Batam, Fit Tour Travel Batam, and many other travel agencies. The close collaboration between the airline and Umrah travel organizers forms a strong foundation for delivering safe, comfortable, and reliable pilgrimage services.

Lion Air also expresses its appreciation to the management of Hang Nadim International Airport, air navigation service providers, regulators, relevant government agencies, and all stakeholders who continue to work together in ensuring smooth flight operations. Their support and cooperation play a vital role in making Umrah travel to the Holy Land more convenient and accessible for pilgrims.
