Direct from Padang to Jeddah: Lion Air Launches Umrah 1448 H Journey from West Sumatra
PADANG, 22 June 2026 – An atmosphere filled with emotion and excitement marked the inaugural departure of Lion Air’s Umrah pilgrims from Minangkabau International Airport (PDG) in West Sumatra to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Since early morning, pilgrims and their families had arrived at the airport carrying prayers, hopes, and joy as they embarked on their spiritual journey to the Holy Land.
For many pilgrims, this flight is more than just an international trip. It is the realization of a long-awaited dream that has been carefully planned and prepared. Today, that dream has become more accessible, as pilgrims can now depart directly from Padang without the need to transit through another city.
Lion Air has resumed Umrah services for the 1448 Hijri / 2026 season from West Sumatra using the wide-body Airbus A330, offering up to 436 Economy Class seats and designed to provide comfort on long-haul flights to Saudi Arabia.
This service is operated in collaboration with trusted Umrah travel agencies that professionally manage every stage of the pilgrims’ journey, from departure through their return home.
In addition to providing greater convenience for the people of West Sumatra, the direct flight from Padang also offers significant benefits to pilgrims from neighboring regions.
