Guide to Understanding Ticket Prices and Air Travel Options: Clearer, More Transparent

Mar 18, 2026, 10:33 AM by Lion Air Public Relations

JAKARTA, March 17, 2026 – In response to various discussions on social media regarding airline ticket prices and travel options, Lion Group provides clarification to help the public better understand how to read price displays, flight options, and the combination of services available through its official applications and website.

Lion Group understands that differences in pricing, travel duration, and service combinations within a single search can cause confusion. Therefore, it is important for customers to understand that the ticket booking system is designed to provide a range of the best options based on seat availability and travel preferences.

Ticket Prices Are Determined by Various Factors

Airline ticket prices are dynamic and influenced by several factors, including seat availability, booking time, travel period (including peak seasons), and the type of service selected. Within a single search, customers may find price variations due to differences in these factors.

Travel Options: Direct or Transit

Within the booking system, customers will find two types of travel options:

  • Direct flights: Available when there is a schedule without transit from the departure city to the destination, offering shorter travel time.
  • Transit flights: If direct flights are unavailable or seats are fully booked, the system will automatically display alternative routes with one or more transits, depending on availability.

Airline and Service Class Combinations

To provide greater flexibility, the system may also display combinations of airlines and service classes within a single journey.

For example: A trip from Jakarta to Makassar may appear as a combination of:

  • Jakarta – Surabaya using Lion Air (economy class)
  • Surabaya – Makassar using Batik Air (business class)

This combination allows customers to tailor their choices based on comfort, travel time, and budget (ticket price). Additionally, a single journey may involve more than one airline, such as Lion Air, Wings Air, Batik Air, and Super Air Jet.

Review Details Before Purchasing Tickets

To get the best option, customers are advised to carefully review the following information before making a transaction:

  • Departure and destination cities
  • Number and location of transits
  • Airline for each flight segment
  • Selected service class
  • Total travel duration

Beware of Fraud

With the increase in travel activity, Lion Group reminds customers to remain vigilant against various fraud schemes carried out in the name of the airline. For safety, please note the following:

  • The official Lion Group Contact Center is only available via WhatsApp chat at +62 811-1938-0888 (chat only)
