Lion Group Travel Advisory Related to the Impact of Unfavorable Weather and Natural Disasters
J A K A R T A, 26 November 2025. Lion Group issues a travel advisory to all customers in response to developing unfavorable weather conditions across various regions in Indonesia and the potential for natural disasters that may affect the smooth operation of flights.
Based on information gathered from official sources such as BNPB and BMKG, weather conditions in Indonesia are generally dominated by cloudy skies to light rain. However, several regions have the potential to experience increased rainfall with moderate to heavy intensity, namely:
Riau, Riau Islands, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, Southwest Papua, West Papua, Papua Highlands, Papua, and South Papua.
In addition, several regions are expected to experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning/thunder and strong winds:
Bengkulu, Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, and North Kalimantan.
Extreme weather conditions and natural disasters fall under the category of force majeure, which refers to situations beyond the company’s control.
Operational Impacts Caused by Unfavorable Weather and Natural Disasters
Delays in flight departures and arrivals
Disruptions to aircraft rotation or movement at various airports
Postponements or cancellations
All adjustments are carried out to ensure flight safety and security, which are Lion Group’s top priorities.
Lion Group continues to monitor weather conditions through official sources and remains committed to providing the best service to all customers.
Travel Advisory for Customers
1. Arrive Early at the Airport
Lion Group advises all customers to arrive at least 3 hours before their departure time to anticipate potential travel disruptions due to weather conditions.
2. Pay Attention to Land Access to Airports
In some regions, land routes to airports may be blocked or inaccessible due to weather or natural disasters. If customers are affected and unable to reach the airport, Lion Group provides the following assistance:
Schedule change (reschedule) at no additional charge, in accordance with Lion Group regulations. This policy does not apply for schedule changes during the peak season period of 19 December 2025 – 5 January 2026.
Full refund according to ticket purchase regulations and channels.
Refund for Ancillary Services
Lion Group also provides full refunds for all unused ancillary services, such as:Prepaid baggage
Seat assignment
Pre-book meals & merchandise
Excess baggage ticket
Medical request and other ancillary services
Refund requests for ancillary services must be submitted together with the flight ticket refund, in accordance with Lion Group regulations. If the flight ticket has already been used while ancillary services remain unused and are submitted for refund separately, the request cannot be processed as it does not meet the ancillary refund requirements.
Refund Application Methods – Force Majeure
Through the official Lion Group website, or
Through the respective travel agent (offline or online) used for the purchase
Example: If the purchase was made through www.lionair.co.id, then the refund request must be submitted through that website.
