M E D A N, July 9, 2025 — Lion Air has announced the launch of direct Umrah flight services from Kualanamu International Airport, Medan (KNO) to King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah (JED), Saudi Arabia. This initiative is part of Lion Air’s commitment to offering easier, more comfortable, and faster travel for pilgrims heading to the Holy Land.

The service will begin operations on July 13, 2025, and will be available regularly based on the departure programs of Lion Air’s partner Umrah travel agencies. Pilgrims from Medan will fly on wide-body Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A330-900NEO aircraft, with a capacity of up to 436 economy-class seats. The availability of direct flights from Medan adds significant value for residents of North Sumatra and surrounding areas, as they no longer need to travel to other cities to begin their Umrah journey. This development also strengthens Kualanamu Airport’s role as a major international pilgrimage gateway for western Indonesia.

To ensure a smooth and safe journey, Lion Air advises all pilgrims to observe the following guidelines:

  • Valuables such as passports, money, and important documents must be carried in cabin bags.
  • Power banks are only allowed in cabin luggage, must have a capacity of 100–160 Wh, and must not be used during the flight.
  • Sharp objects, liquids over 100 ml, and flammable materials are prohibited in cabin baggage.
  • Label all luggage and bags with names and contact numbers to assist with identification.

Lion Air also reminds travelers to book only through official Umrah travel agencies that have partnered with Lion Air to avoid fraud and ensure a smooth, comfortable pilgrimage experience from departure to return.
