Lion Air Confirms Hajj Flight Routes Do Not Pass Through Pakistani and Northern Indian Airspace
All 25 Hajj Flight Embarkation Points in 2025 Follow Safe Routes in Compliance with International Regulations
JAKARTA, May 7, 2025 — Lion Air has issued an official clarification and confirmation that all 1446H/2025 Hajj flights operated from Indonesia and various international embarkation points do not fly over Pakistani or northern Indian airspace. This follows official notifications from global civil aviation authorities (NOTAM and ICAO/IATA references), and air navigation route planning that has been approved and supervised by the relevant authorities.
As an airline deeply committed to flight safety and security, Lion Air fully complies with all international aviation rules and guidelines when planning and operating flight routes, especially in consideration of geopolitical conditions and restricted or high-risk airspace.
Hajj Flight Routes from Indonesia
Lion Air operates Hajj flights from Banjarmasin (Syamsudin Noor Airport) and Padang (Minangkabau Airport) to Madinah (Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport) and Jeddah (King Abdulaziz Airport) in Saudi Arabia.
The flight routes are specifically designed to ensure safety and do not cross high-risk or politically unstable airspace, such as Pakistan and northern India. The routing is as follows:
From Banjarmasin / Padang (Indonesia) ➡️ Indian Ocean ➡️ Near Sri Lankan Airspace ➡️ Southern India (Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka) ➡️ Arabian Sea ➡️ Omani Airspace ➡️ Saudi Arabian Airspace ➡️ Landing in Madinah / Jeddah.
