JAKARTA, April 3, 2025 – Lion Group is committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers during flights. One key aspect that must be taken seriously is the rule regarding carrying and storing power banks in aircraft cabins. Considering the risks of short circuits, overheating, and even fire, passengers must understand and comply with these regulations for everyone’s safety. Below is a guide that all passengers must follow:
Must Know! Power Bank Regulations Checklist for Aircraft Cabins

Power bank > 100 Wh up to 160 Wh (max 2 units) with total capacity not exceeding 160 Wh, in good condition, and clearly labeled ✅ Allowed

Storing power bank in checked baggage
❌ Prohibited
Storing power bank in overhead bin ❌ Prohibited
Storing in seat pocket ❌ Prohibited
Storing inside a small personal bag placed under the front seat ✅ Allowed

Notifying cabin crew if there are danger signs (heat, smoke, smell) ✅ Allowed

Notes:
Wh (Watt-hour) = Power bank capacity.
mAh (milliampere-hour) = Battery capacity (100 Wh ≈ 20,000 mAh at 5V).
Good condition = Not damaged, not swollen, and shows no warning signs.
Permitted Power Bank Capacity
✅ Up to 100 Wh (equivalent to 20,000 mAh) – can be carried without special approval.
✅ Between 100 Wh (20,000 mAh) and 160 Wh (32,000 mAh) – requirements:
Maximum 2 units per passenger, total capacity not exceeding 160 Wh.
Must be in good condition, undamaged, and clearly labeled.
Must not be used or connected to any device during the flight.
Must remain under the owner's supervision.
🚫 Over 160 Wh: Not allowed on board.
How to Properly Carry a Power Bank
🚫 Do not store power banks in checked baggage.
🚫 Do not store power banks in the overhead compartment.
Power banks must be brought as carry-on baggage and stored in a secure location, such as:
In a shirt or pants pocket (if small in size).
Inside a small personal bag placed under the seat in front.
Rules During the Flight
🚫 Do not use power banks to charge electronic devices on board.
✅ Ensure power banks are not connected to cables or devices.
✅ Spare batteries or multiple power banks must be stored separately to avoid contact.
✅ Use protection or insulation on battery terminals to prevent short circuits.
If a Power Bank Malfunctions
🔴 If a power bank feels hot, emits smoke, or gives off a burning smell:
Immediately inform the cabin crew.
Do not touch or move the malfunctioning power bank.
Follow the cabin crew’s instructions for further handling.
