Lion Group Strengthens Aviation Safety and Security Ahead of Busy Eid Season Through Urine Tests for Flight Crew

Apr 2, 2025, 11:11 AM by Lion Air Public Relations

TANGERANG, March 24, 2025 – In an effort to ensure flight safety, security, and comfort, Lion Group continues to reinforce its commitment by conducting urine tests for flight crew. This program is part of the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (P4GN) initiative, carried out both regularly and incidentally (random tests conducted without prior notice) within Lion Group.

Ahead of the busy Eid season, Lion Group is collaborating with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Tangerang City and Banten Province to conduct random urine tests on pilots and cabin crew. The test results confirmed that all crew members tested negative for drug use.

Strict and Transparent Urine Testing Process

The urine tests are conducted following strict procedures, including:

1. Random Crew Selection – Flight crew are selected at random without prior notice to ensure objective results.

2. Registration and Identity Verification – Crew members submit their identification to authorized officers before taking the test.

3. Urine Sample Collection – Crew members provide urine samples in a designated area under strict supervision to prevent manipulation.

4. Laboratory Testing – Samples are tested using rapid test kits to detect the presence of prohibited substances.

5. Test Result Announcement – The results are shared with relevant authorities, and in case of positive indications, further examination is conducted in accordance with aviation regulations.

Lion Group's ongoing commitment includes conducting regular drug tests for all flight crew as a proactive measure to uphold safety standards and professionalism in the aviation industry. This program ensures compliance with regulations and provides reassurance to passengers that every flight with Lion Group is operated by healthy, competent, and responsible crew members.

For passengers, this initiative is crucial in ensuring that pilots and cabin crew on duty are in optimal condition, focused, and free from the influence of harmful substances. As a result, passengers can feel more comfortable and assured when traveling by air, especially during peak seasons like Eid.

Lion Group remains committed to continuously improving aviation safety standards through various preventive programs, including education and awareness campaigns for flight crew about the dangers of drug abuse, as well as strict supervision to ensure compliance with aviation regulations.
