M A K A S S A R – February 21, 2022. Wings Air (flight code IW) member of Lion Air Group is preparing to open a new route that will serve domestic scheduled passenger flights to connect South Sulawesi (Sulsel) with West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The first flight is scheduled for March 9, 2022 from Makassar Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Maros (UPG) to Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Lombok Praya International Airport (LOP) and March 10, 2022 from Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport to Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport.

For the initial stage, Wings Air offers a flight schedule of 1 (one) time every day or 7 (seven) times a week, as follows:

  • Makassar – Lombok flight number IW-1352 | departure at 14.00 WITA | arrival at 15.40 WITA.
  • Lombok – Makassar flight number IW-1353 | departure at 08.00 WITA | arrival at 09.40 WITA.

Travel time there is no difference in time in both destination cities, namely using Central Indonesia Time (GMT + 08).

Wings Air provides the best ticket price one way, Makassar to Lombok starts from Rp 690,600, and Lombok to Makassar starts from Rp 732,900.

To provide a "Flying is Safe and Fun" experience, Wings Air has prepared a fleet of propellers type ATR 72-500 or ATR 72-600 aircraft, seating capacity of 72 economy class, configuration or layout 2-2.

Wings Air maximizes various steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19, including regulating the process of entering and leaving passengers from the aircraft sequentially to minimize overcrowding. On ATR aircraft, ascend and descend from the rear door. This matter will minimize face-to-face interactions between passengers. The kitchen area (galley) is located at the rear yet minimizes face-to-face interaction between passengers and cabin crew.

Fresh air quality is continuously supplied with a high level of cabin air volume renewal so that the air cycle is guaranteed to be clean. Airflow from above (cabin ceiling) moves one way down (floor), which minimizes the movement of air forward and rear direction in the cabin (blown transversally and vertically). Air will be sucked into the floor area through the panel (floor panel level) according to the process of air pressure flow valve (pressurization outflow valves operation).

The air volume of approximately 95 cubic meters in the cabin will constantly be updated within 5 to 7 minutes by relying on 2 Operative mechanisms, 2 Recirculation and Extraction System (by Environment Control System (ECS)) which, ensures the air in the cabin remains fresh.

The ATR 72 is a technologically advanced aircraft with a more pronounced comfort level during the flight. It has equipped with more a futuristic designed interior. So, we can relax when in the cabin, work, or only enjoy the trip by looking at the scenery because the aircraft can fly low.

To maintain flight health and safety, Wings Air has also increased the sterilization phase of the entire fleet. The aircraft cleaning process has to carry out by a team of technicians and aircraft interior exterior cleaning (AIEC), including Aircraft Interior Cleaning (cleaning the inside of the aircraft) and Aircraft Exterior Cleaning (cleaning the outside of the airplane).

The first flight for Makassar - Lombok - Makassar route has been in line with efforts to help accelerate economic recovery programs in the two provinces. To support the development of special economic zones, create connectivity (ease movement) of people and commodities between regions of South Sulawesi and NTB. So, we expect that business people and tourists will get more value, including faster mobilization, shortening distances, shortening time, and affordable prices.

South Sulawesi has strategically located as a center of destination diversity. UMKM products based on local wisdom in Eastern Indonesia have known as South Sulawesi's "Colorful Experience." For that, Wings Air invites "Let's Explore Indonesia – Sulsel."

Wings Air is optimistic the upcoming flights will further increase people's interest in traveling by plane on short-haul direct flights (point to point). And get to know more closely "Let's Explore Indonesia – NTB" and the international event in Lombok "MotoGP," which would hold in March in Mandalika.

Wings air expressed its gratitude for the cooperation and coordination of the central government, the government of South Sulawesi Province, the South Sulawesi Regional Tourism Promotion Agency, the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial government, regulators, airport managers of PT Angkasa Pura I Makassar, and Lombok Branches, air traffic controllers – AirNav Indonesia, employees and flight crew and various other relevant parties in supporting operations. So, the inaugural flight of Makassar – Lombok – Makassar can be carried out and run smoothly according to standard operating procedures.
